Meet the Team

Alex has been investing client’s money in global markets for over 25 years. He has held successful roles at Barclays Global Investors, Montgomery Asset Management, and was a founding member of global hedge fund firm Avalon Global Asset Management. Alex has spent his entire career investing and working in domestic and international markets, with particular expertise in technology, media, communications, consumer products, hotels, leisure, restaurants, and retailers. His global investment knowledge was born while living and working overseas in Paris and Brussels, as well as his extensive experience of meeting with global companies and investing around the world for many decades. This provides a deep understanding of different business environments, local policies and politics, nuanced consumer markets, and the cultural differences that impact investments. He holds a B.S. in Finance from Santa Clara University, with a Minor in French Language and an International Business Certificate. He is fluent in French and proficient in Spanish and Italian.

While his forte is in global investing, his personal passions run deep. He volunteers at various organizations in his local community and along the west coast. You might find him introducing underprivileged kids to skiing, guiding inner city youth on multi-day treks in the backcountry, coaching youth soccer, or organizing beach clean-ups for Lake Tahoe or the Pacific Ocean. He is also a proud member of the Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue Team. In his free time, he is an avid hiker and mountain biker, soccer player, surfer, and loves casting flies on mountain streams in pursuit of elusive trout.
